October 21, 2019
Today we chose our scene from Water by The Spoonful. We picked scene 7, in which Elliot and Yasmin are confronting Odessa in the coffee shop during her meeting with John. We also picked our roles today. I chose the role of actress.
October 22, 2019
Today was a bit annoying because we realized that we’re three people down from our original number of group members. We had to do some work to switch jobs around but in the end things were sorted out. I’m still only an actress.
October 23 ,2019
First cold read with all of our group members today. It was pretty bad, but I suspect as we practice it at home and with one another it will get better. This scene is very emotional but so far I can’t help but laugh when I have to say a swear word.
October 28, 2019
Things are starting to come together. We saw the set and costume designs today so we’re starting to have a feel of what we need for the final product. We read over the script a few times as well. No one is off book yet.
October 30, 2019
We didn’t do much today besides read through the script a couple times. We ended up trying out some new characters as well in case we needed to switch things up, but I think everyone is fine in their roles as it is. We’re all just kind of nervous.
November 4, 2019
Today the actors met at Starbucks before class and stayed for about an hour rehearsing the script. I’m not quite off script but I’m picking up my cues better I think. I’ve been listening to a video of our scene from the play and it’s helping with memorization.
November 6, 2019
We met at Starbucks again today to rehearse. I can recite the first two pages from memory so I have a little ways to go. Our group gets along pretty well and I’m finding it easier to act with them the more we build chemistry.
November 13, 2019
Today we practiced in front of Professor Galas and got notes. I got nervous performing for an audience but in the end it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I have to work on motivation, and not smiling whenever I swear.

I’m completely off book! I’m encouraging my fellow actors to get off book as well. Now that we pretty much have it though we have to work on slowing down and not skipping lines. I’m feeling good about our performance.
November 20, 2019
Today we practiced at Starbucks before class. I was really proud to see how far we’ve all come since the first actor rehearsal. Performing wasn’t really nerve inducing, and I didn’t forget any of my lines so I feel content. I think Adam skipped over one of my lines at one point but we kept things going. I’m sad that it’s over but I’m glad I won’t have to worry about performing over the break.
